Headphones, Headphones, Headphones! Our Clients can't make use of your feedback just based on moving screens and a muffled voice, murmering or complete silence. Since the MIC is very sensitive to sounds, use Headphones during the Test to avoid noise interfereing with your voice. It is not useful listening to the sound of your fan, palm or clothes rubbing against the MIC or other noise from the background. So please always use headphones while taking a Test.
To test awesome stuff, you’ll need a stable Internet connection (we recommend Wi-Fi, Data is expensive in some countries) and an Android Smartphone/iPhone. To take the Tests build for Computer, you’ll need access to a desktop/laptop computer, microphone (built-in or as a USB accessory) and a stable Internet connection.
To help improve a Website or App, you need to use it. So these Tests involve usage of those websites or Apps. Each Test has few Tasks that are relevant to ease-of-use and user friendliness. Tasks must be well understood and not be rushed through.
UXArmy UserAdvocates (Testers) are people like you and me who Sign on to test websites and apps in development--sometimes even before they’re released to the public--and to provide constructive feedback on how easy or friendly they are to use.
After observing that new UserAdvocates were hesitant to speak out their thoughts out loud, we realised that some practice to take a Test is helpful. Therefore in a Trial Test, the UXArmy system evaluates and highlights problems in your feedback for instance, was it rushed through, was the environment noisy, were your thoughts not spoken out loud, etc. The Trial Test can be attempted multiple times until you succeed. In the process, you also naturally learn how to provide high quality feedback.
The Trial test is done for an example website.
Sometimes, we can send you a Practice test instead.
It’s absolutely OK. Check the ratings and details of your submission in the App. Just re-attempt the Trial Test and you’d eventually succeed. Tips: Do not rush to complete the Test, be in a quiet environment and keep speaking what comes to your mind during the interaction with the website.
Once you pass the Trial Test, you are added to the list of UserAdvocates who would be sent the new Tests. However, if your Profile is not complete, there are lesser chances of receiving a Test. We suggest you complete your profile and keep it updated at all times.
Your voice and screen will be recorded. The recording is only active during the duration of the Test.
These tests are taken remotely meaning, we don’t have access to information about the reasoning behind the actions that you took on the website / App. To understand and make your participation useful, we require you to think your thoughts loud and spontaneously - as they occur to you. The product owners, researchers, designers, etc. who build the Tests can not learn anything without your frank voiced out thoughts and feedback.
Absolutely important and required. Without your spoken feedback, the screen video that you upload it just like watching a movie without audio and subtitles. In short, it’s not useful and would not be approved by our clients who seek your feedback.
No. The system does not even access the Camera of your Smartphone or Computer.
We pay the incentives to our UserAdvocates via PayPal. You need to provide your PayPal ID via UserAdvocate App or by writing to hi@uxarmy.com You will receive your payment within 15 working days after completing a website or app test. (This waiting period allows our Clients to approve your video 'only screen and voice recording'). A test is only considered complete when your screen recording is uploaded, so make sure you connect to a good quality Internet connection (we recommend Wi-Fi). Uploading via Data connection (4G/LTE) could be expensive.
For some countries where PayPal is not well supported e.g. Indonesia, we are evaluating other payment methods.
You don’t need special technical expertise. We’re seeking consumers with a range of technology experience to provide constructive feedback on the user friendliness and ease of use of websites, apps, chatbots, and more.
Your opinion is important! We’re not looking for people who say good/bad, like/dislike.
You should be willing to provide your suggestions on how an app or website could have worked better for you.
You must be 18 years of age or older with access to desktop or mobile devices.
To be a mobile tester, you’ll need an Internet connection, access to wifi, and an Android or iOS smartphone/tablet/phablet. Otherwise, you’ll need access to a desktop/laptop computer, microphone (built-in or accessory) and an internet connection.
You’ll need to complete a one-time installation of UXArmy’s testing software to your Smartphone. Then, once you’re invited to take a test, follow the instructions provided. For mobile app testing and task-based tests, your screen is recorded while you take the test—so do not access any confidential information during the test. Once done, you submit your test. A complete submission requires uploading your screen recording to the us, which will automatically happen when (and only when) you’re connected to the Internet connection (we recommend Wi-Fi). Uploading via Data connection (4G/LTE) could be expensive.
Occasionally we recruit UserAdvocates to participate in in-person user research. If we choose you, we will follow up with instructions on your role.
We pay you for taking a test and submitting your comments and suggestions along with the required recordings. Screen recording is required for most tests, voice recording for some. The instructions will tell you what’s required.
Compensation varies depending on the test you’re selected for. We offer monetary compensation via the viable methods of payment - sometimes PayPal or using popular online money transfer services. Incentives for in-person user research are generally higher, because you may be required to travel to the location where the user study is conducted, and the time commitment is greater.
Payment is commensurate with the complexity of the task or study. For task-based tests that record your think-out-loud audio and video, average compensation is between $10 - $30. For standard surveys, average compensation is $5 - $10. In-person interviews and user research average $100, and payment varies depending on length and complexity of study and user demographic.
We mainly use your personal data to select you for the right test or study, to process compensation, and to improve our utilisation of your service as a UserAdvocate. We do not sell, trade, or rent our UserAdvocates information to others. Learn more about our Privacy Policy.
We have in place algorithms that check on feedback from the UXArmy UserAdvocates panel and ensure that feedback benefits businesses. Additionally, validations are also in place to ensure that users do not create multiple accounts to earn credit without giving additional value to businesses. Dishonesty in providing feedback may render your account deactivated or banned, and credits forfeited if evidence has been validated by our management team.
